Saturday 21st September: The Big Green Gig

13 August 2019

Chard becoming a town with an alternative live music scene maybe a dream for many in the area, but organiser of The Big Green Gig ‘Tim Eggins” believes this can happen.

His event on September 21st has a green theme and is hosting Eco bands such as Regime and The Wing faced Earth Figs who will be supporting The 3 Daft Monkeys who performed at the Glastonbury festival this year. Local girl Sharon Lazybyrd is completing the lineup and will be Performing tracks from her recent albums.

The 3 Daft Monkeys are no strangers to Chard having performed for the Earth Hour event in 2018 with singer and fiddle player Athene Roberts once a pupil at Holyrood school. The evening also has guest speaker Amelia Womack who is the Deputy Leader of the Green Party celebrating the recent local success.

The tickets for the evening are surprisingly good value for such a strong line up at £10 in advance or £12 on the night.

Tim is aware that people are having to travel to Glastonbury, Frome and beyond to see good quality live music and believes there is no reason that Chard cannot be an entertainment destination where pubs and restaurants can benefit from the influx of music lovers.

Indeed the Guildhall is a well designed venue with the potential of raising the towns profile hosting top music events.

Ticket sales are being handled locally by the Eleos Cafe team who will also be on hand at the Gig serving their incredible beverages and cakes and with a licensed bar for those wishing to sample something a little stronger it really will be a night to remember.

Updates on the Chard Guildhall Events Facebook page. Tickets available from the Eleos Cafe in Chard.
